I met a guy Sunday. There's definitely chemistry. And we really hit it off. I'm keeping it to myself for now. But, it feels pretty good to be smitten. I haven't been smitten in quite awhile. I can hardly wait 'til our date next weekend (He called before I even got a chance to get home). Shoshana

I knew a couple of teenaged-home-schooled-pioneers a bit younger than me that would tell stay home "sick" from the meetings, then hook up while everyone was at the meeting and out of the way. One of them told me about it a few years later. I really don't remember if they did ever get caught because I was out by then. But I was moderately impressed with their scheme. It had flaws, but it was still clever. Shoshana

It just doesn't add up
by micheal in.
was there any particular event, teaching, experience where it all came together for you when you really questioned the "truth", or believed it wasn't it couldn't be god's organization?.
when did you realize and say to yourself, this just doesn't add up?

Shortly after I had gotten baptized, I was in the post office, picking up the mail for my father's business. I was in a side alcove and saw the P.O. walking in to pick up his mail (we ran into each other frequently around the center of our little town. His office was just a block from my dad's). Anyway, he didn't see me in the alcove, so he didn't know anyone else who knew him was in that area of the post office. Apparently he had to get something from the pick up window and buzzed for a mail clerk. There was some disagreement or misunderstaniding about the parcel and he really ripped her a new one. He was just awful, in a snide, sarcastic, demeaning, condescending way. I walked past him towards the end of the tirade, so he could see me. From that point on, he began to treat me like he treated that clerk. And he must have been right about me because it was less than six months later that I decided to leave for good (10 months before actualizing it). Shoshana

Are we just being "sifted" out?
by micheal inthis is an expression all of us heard and read about in the wt.
this is also an agrument someone used on me because i am not and have no desire to go to meetings.
i for one believe this agrument that i as well as all of you are just being "sifted" out of "jehovah's organization" because we are "hard headed" is nothing more than a pile of crap.. .

Sure, Michael, why not. That analogy is backward (or is it?), because what gets "sifted out" is what goes into the cake-it is what is the desirable. What stays IN the sifter is what I toss down the garbage disposal. (That reminds me, I was going to have chocolate cake for breakfast-hope it's FULL of 'postates, they're delicious.) Shoshana

my hair
by LukeN inlately ive been getting alot of negative comments from brothers, sisters and others about the length of my hair.

It's a pretty good start. You have lovely curls that don't frizz, you should enjoy them now. When you "grow up" you may end up having to look more professional for your job, then no one will get to see how beautiful your hair is. I was always a goner for the long haired boys when I was in high school and college. Well, I'm still a sucker for 'em, but not that I'm older and they're older, the partially balding longhaired men just look goofy (that's another thing, you may get bald one day. Enjoy it now!) Shoshana (P.S. backcombing it will make it "bigger" thus creating the illusion when you do comb it out that it's shorter than it was before!)

What Did you Plan On Doing In The New System?
by minimus inevery child and bible student was told about how wonderful the "new system" was going to be.
"and what animal do you want to have in the new system?
"......that was a very typical question.

I was like Joannadandy (no not sailing around writing poetry), I knew I would not be making it through. I had no delusions-I didn't have what it took to be completely obedient: I hated meetings, I hated service, I hated elders. I never once fantasized about what I might do in "The New System." But I also figured I'd grow old and die before it ever came (but that I was so "bad" I wouldn't even get resurrected). I'm glad I decided to make a life now and not postpone. Shoshana.

Sending "Love" from the Platform
by RubaDub ini have never been able to understand the "the brothers from xyz cogregation are sending their love" at the end of a public talk.. it always seemed to occur when the speaker was from a far-away place.
then, we all have to clap when he rhetorically asks "do you want to send our love to them?".
they never seem to do it when it is a near-by congregation .. only one far away.

Love my ass. This was just another example of how the rank and file get drummed into their heads that this is a religion of love, when it isn't. (Like the Autumn tract campaign) Shoshana

"why are you instructed to leave literature where a passer-by can't see it?" Because leaving crap on the porch would be a sign to potential miscreants that the occupant was not home and therefor could be burgled...Oh, the tract campaigns. Yukk. What a bunch of kooks (did you catch the note in the KM about special service arrangements for November 27th? They just can't bring themselves to say "Thanksgiving" can they). Shoshana
